What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a form of complementary medicine which provides you with treatment that is predominantly ‘hands on’. Osteopaths are of firm belief that structure and function are inter-related and as a form of complementary medicine it thrives on this principle.

An osteopath targets the source of the patients’ presenting complaint. Diagnosis is based on clinical history and physical examination. Treatments are one on one and vary endlessly depending on the patients’ diagnosis.

In Australia, Osteopaths are required to undertake a minimum of 5 years of study which comprises of a 3 year Bachelor of Clinical Science, followed by a 2 year Masters of Health Science. Osteopaths are also required to continually enhance their skills with professional courses year on year.
